Two women were rescued from the Huron River in Ypsilanti after their raft was damaged at about 2 p.m. Friday, according to the Ypsilanti Fire Department.

The two women entered the river from the Peninsular Paper Dam. When they got near the bridge on LeForge Street, their inflatable raft hit a metal pole that was sticking out of the water, Fire Department Lt. Mike Kouba said.

The women got to a rock in the middle of the river and stayed there for fear the currents were too strong, Kouba said.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department arrived with a motor boat to rescue the women with help from the fire department. No one was injured.

Too Good

When you were good, you were great and when you were bad, you weren't all that bad. Now you're just absent and you're too good at being gone.
